Precious-metals stocks really haven’t had a great summer by any means. After rallying initially in June, they started relentlessly drifting lower in July. The net result of this lackluster summer trading is a lethargic drift sideways. Naturally this listlessness has weighed on sentiment among this sector’s traders.

Gold is a real winner if we consider the length of time it has been used for, the range of its uses and the quantity consumed or invested in. At the beginnings, what drew people’s attention to gold was its unequaled beauty, which accounts for its very name - ‘aurum’ in Latin, meaning ’shining dawn’ and ‘translating’ actually its unique luster. So far back as the Chalcolithic, artisans used it for its aspect, and for the same reason it was used by the ancient Egyptians, both in the form of gold coins offered as gifts and in the form of jewelry and ornaments filling their tombs - genuine works of art to be admired to this day. The same exquisite beauty of this precious metal made the Europeans to rush to Americas, looking for the gold wonders of the Pre-Columbian cultures and their gold supply. In short, throughout ages, no matter the culture or human typology, people have shown the same passion for gold, finding always new ways of processing and storing it, for both its beauty and value.

Not only have many of them designed their websites to ensure quick communication, but they also offer to insure your gold belongings while they are in transit.

Trading gold futures does not require gold to exchange hands. A gold future refers to an agreement by the buyer to buy a specific quantity of gold at a pre-determined price at a future time. Gold futures are the best way to gain leveraged exposure but are volatile. Gold futures are a fascinating and important realm, but they do not deserve the level of mysticism and fear they seem to create. The futures priesthood that ‘informs’ gold-stock traders often takes events out of context and disseminates half truths planned to sway sentiment.
